The Oshkosh Chamber Singers

About the OCS

The Oshkosh Chamber Singers was founded to provide the Oshkosh area with quality performances of significant choral music and to increase the cultural and educational quality of life of the community.

The group was formed in 1985 when the choirs from the Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church and the First Congregational Church combined to perform Bach's "St. John's Passion." Several of the musicians involved wanted to continue to perform works that were beyond the capabilities of any single church choir. In its more than twenty-one year history the group has performed a wide range of serious choral literature, both religious and secular. In 1990 the group did its first holiday performance of Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Trinity Episcopal Church. This has become an annual event. Community leaders are asked to participate as readers. The concert has been recorded for broadcast on public radio. Starting in 1994, two concerts were performed.

Carl Chapman has been the group's musical director since its founding and Marianne Chaudoir has been its accompanist.
